Chefs with Compassion

Chefs with Compassion is a COVID-19 initiative that provides nutritious meals for thousands of children and adults who are destitute, homeless, in shelters and old age homes around the country during the lockdown and for the foreseeable future.

Chefs with Compassion (CwC) is a collaboration between SA Chefs Association, Nosh Food Rescue NPC, Slow Food International, Chefs Alliance SA, and Strategic PR, and is growing steadily throughout South Africa since the first 300 meals cooked by five chefs in their home kitchens were delivered to the Tsakane community in Ekurhuleni in Gauteng on 20 April.

Chefs around the country are joining the programme and putting their cooking skills to work, creating bulk meals with ingredients and produce donated by food manufacturers, suppliers, retailers, and farmers. Chefs have the option of working from their own kitchens in full compliance of all COVID-19 government regulations, or at central kitchens under strictly controlled conditions.
